Whether you’re discovering snorkelling for the first time or training as a certified freediver, our snorkel and freedive experiences help you connect with the ocean in a whole new way. From guided beach sessions to advanced Molchanovs courses, there’s an adventure waiting at every level.
Woebegone Dive is a family-run scuba diving, freediving and snorkelling business based in Jervis Bay. Born and raised on the South Coast, we’ve spent decades exploring these waters and sharing them with others through small-group experiences built on education, conservation and genuine respect for the marine environment.
Our journey has taken us around the world—from teaching scuba diving in the Caribbean to training with some of the world’s leading freedivers—but it always led us back home. Today, we combine internationally recognised scuba and freediving instruction with local knowledge, helping people of all experience levels discover the extraordinary underwater world of Jervis Bay, safely, confidently and with a renewed appreciation for the ocean.

If you want to breathe and move freely through the water, start with Snorkel or Free-Dive. If you want full underwater time on tanks, SCUBA is your path. And if it's winter through spring, the Whale Swim runs alongside everything else. Not sure? Get in touch and we'll point you the right way. No pressure, just an honest answer.

For Snorkel and Whale Swim, no. Just comfort in the water and a sense of adventure. SCUBA and Free-Dive courses start from zero and build you up properly, with small groups and real instruction, not a rushed briefing on the back of the boat.

Small groups, always. That's a deliberate choice, not a marketing line. It means more attention from your guide and a better experience in the water.

Our whale swim season runs from June to October, when humpbacks are moving along the coast.
June to August is the northern migration, when whales are travelling north. September and October bring the southern migration, when whales return with calves. Each part of the season is different, and both can be incredible in their own way.

Around 2.5 hours south of Sydney on the Princes Highway. We’re based in Huskisson, right on the water in the heart of the bay. Many guests combine a dive with a weekend away on the South Coast.
