Our Journey

Growing up on the South Coast, days were mainly spent in the ocean surfing and diving.

After graduating school, we dove headfirst into our scuba training journey, starting with the Open Water Course in Bali, followed by the Advanced Course in Shellharbour. That marked the beginning of our deep-seated passion for the underwater realm. We dedicated two years to a Dive Master apprenticeship in Jervis Bay and then ventured to the Riviera Maya, Mexico, for our Master Instructor Training at a renowned dive academy. Our planned five-week stay transformed into two enriching years, during which we taught scuba diving at 5 star Caribbean resorts, encountering incredible marine life like Bull Sharks and Whale Sharks.

Our path took an exciting turn in Cozumel, where we discovered the exhilarating world of Freediving, along with Yoga and Meditation. Back in Australia, Dylan honed his skills as a Cave Diver in Mount Gambier, where Freediving proved invaluable in managing stress. Eventually, we yearned for simplicity and revisited Jervis Bay's clear waters, armed only with the essentials: a mask, snorkel, and fins. Our journey led us back to Bali for an intensive Freediving Bootcamp, Deep Week, hosted by Adam Stern and Alexei Molchanov. Eight years of immersive training brought us full circle to the uncomplicated joy of our early diving days, culminating in the creation of Woebegone Freedive.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the extraordinary community around us. Woebegone Freedive thrives because of our talented friends, supportive family, and the collective effort of everyone involved in our cleanups, those who've purchased our merchandise, and shared our journey. Your support is invaluable, and we're profoundly grateful!

Oceans of thanks,

The Team at Woebegone Freedive
